Imporant Role Of Mata Mangala During Navakalebar Of Lord Jagannath:-

 

After permission from Gajapati of Puri all selected Daru Investigators, proceed to Jagannath Ballav Matha on Grand road, accompanied with the music of conches trumpets, drums and gongs etc. in an enriched procession. All of them remain there for one and half a day for initial preparation and then resume their expedition for Kakatpur to the temple of Maa Mangala. To cover up the distance by walk, normally they require two days. At the side of the river Prachi, Deuli Matha is the bach of Emar Matha of Puri. Next day in the morning, all of them go to the temple of Maa Mangala, arrange  a special Marjana (ceremonial bath) for goddess, dress and decorate her with the new sarees and beautiful flowers provided by Jagannath Temple administration and offer Gajamanda (local cake) and Chadeineda as Prasad. The Brahmins and the Purohits start chanting stotra – mantras and Sri Durga Saptasati before her.

Mata Mangala is the supreme authority for selection of Daru in the event of Navakalevara, after offering  through Seva and Puja to the goddess Badagrahi Daita obtained clue for identification of Daru. After obtaining clue and due permission of the goddess the process of searching of Daru starts. The normal composition of the group of Daru Investigators is one Daitapati from each family of their sect. one Pati Mahapatra, One Lenka, One Deula Karan, One Tadau Karan, four Biswakarma Maharana and seven Brahmin Purohits.
