Web Developer (php)

Job Description
The Front-End Developer and Web Designer will primarily be responsible for creating designs and front-end development of new and existing sites, landing pages and templates, and overseeing and/or making decisions about site rebuilds. He/she will serve as the point person on all Wordpress-related projects and updates. As a member of the central digital marketing department, which serves a number of publishers and online properties at Macmillan, this individual will also provide guidance and troubleshooting support to the various marketing groups, and assist in the development of trainings and materials to ensure all users have the background knowledge to use tools such as Wordpress.

The ability to effectively communicate with developers and non-developers is critical for success in this role, as is the importance of understanding the basics of marketing, web development and user experience.

Major Responsibilities:

Oversee all Wordpress-related projects, including updates/enhancements to existing sites and contributing to the development of new sites and pages.
Collaborate with other designers/developers in the company to ensure consistent use of branding, tone, look and feel for individual imprints.
Produce wireframes, design mock-ups, and creative assets, as well as HTML and CSS code for major projects
Address ad hoc design/development projects and research as needed
Create well-organized, clear source files.
Perform quality assurance on all code produced.
Test all markup to ensure W3C standards compliance, optimized speed, and code structure.
Produce designs for banner ads, websites, landing pages, presentations, email newsletters, or videos, as needed.
Provide guidance and best practices to other designers/developers and marketing staff.
Required Skills / Knowledge:

Expert in hand-coded responsive design in HTML5 and CSS3
Very strong understanding of W3C, Standards Compliant XHTML, and Javascript and its libraries (jQuery etc.)
